SkillsUSA Holds Dedication for Champions Circle

Pavilion Built by Volunteers from Education and Industry   Leesburg, Va. — A new outdoor pavilion called the “Champions Circle” was dedicated Sept. 21 at SkillsUSA’s 90-acre headquarters campus. It was built through a collaboration of volunteer efforts: more than 80 SkillsUSA advisors and students from four schools who donated their labor, and industry partners who contributed over $100,000 in materials, equipment and labor. Fine Homebuilding and SkillsUSA’s #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship Winner Students Show Passion for the Trades

Leesburg, Va. — SkillsUSA, in the third year of partnership with Fine Homebuilding, is proud to announce the #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship winners. Twenty-four students, all studying in construction-related fields and planning to pursue continued education in the trades, received a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year. Selections were based on completion of an application, along with a 300-word essay and a letter of support from a teacher, administrator, SkillsUSA advisor or educational/professional mentor. Leesburg, Va. — The mikeroweWORKS Foundation has contributed $50,000 to a SkillsUSA scholarship fund for 88 students about to compete in the world’s largest showcase of career and technical education. This contribution was matched by the Charles Koch Foundation and by Koch Industries to total $100,000 in travel scholarships for SkillsUSA students. On Tuesday, March 26, the Senate CTE Caucus hosted a reception at the Dirksen Senate Office Building for Members of Congress and their staffs, titled “CTE Success: Student Leaders in Action”. WorldSkills USA Team Trains at 3M

On March 11-12, the WorldSkills USA team members and their experts, traveled to St. Paul, Minn., for two days of training at 3M’s headquarters. The first day was spent in team building activities, scenario training and learning what to expect in Kazan, Russia. The next day, competitors enjoyed mentor discussions, information sessions and toured the 3M Innovation Center.
