“Attracting the Next Generation” Report Shows Value of SkillsUSA Within Career and Technical Education Leesburg, Va. — SkillsUSA membership increases career and technical students’ likelihood of continuing in the career they are studying, according to new research by The Manufacturing Institute. The institute’s report, “Attracting the Next Generation Workforce: The Role of Career and Technical Education,” was based on surveys conducted by the Educational Research Center of America (ERCA) in collaboration with SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA WorldTeam Celebrated at Send-Off Event Prior to International Competition

Visits to UAE Embassy, U.S. Department of Education and Partner Reception Leesburg, Va. — The SkillsUSA WorldTeam traveled to our nation’s capital Sept. 12 for an official briefing at the U.S. Department of Education. While in Washington, the team visited the embassy of the United Arab Emirates, host of the upcoming WorldSkills Competition, to better understand its commerce and culture. Massachusetts Teacher Wins “Mega Prize”

Larry Lambert, a programming and web instructor from Minuteman Career and Technical High School in Lexington, Mass., enjoyed a fantastic “mega prize” provided by Asurion. Lambert won the drawing at a reception for SkillsUSA’s 100-percent advisors and chapters of distinction during its June national conference in Louisville, Ky. Joined by his wife, Joanne, Lambert attended a Sept. 8 reception with SkillsUSA staff and toured the national headquarters.
