Fine Homebuilding and SkillsUSA’s #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship Winner Students Show Passion for the Trades

Leesburg, Va. — SkillsUSA, in the third year of partnership with Fine Homebuilding, is proud to announce the #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship winners. Twenty-four students, all studying in construction-related fields and planning to pursue continued education in the trades, received a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year. Selections were based on completion of an application, along with a 300-word essay and a letter of support from a teacher, administrator, SkillsUSA advisor or educational/professional mentor. Help Launch the SkillsUSA Hope Fund

The SkillsUSA Hope Fund was established in 2019 to provide emergency scholarships for individual students in crisis to further their trade education, and for chapters affected by natural disasters. The fund is building during 2019 and we anticipate opening scholarships in 2020. We encourage our SkillsUSA staff, state association directors, board and foundation members, teachers and all stakeholders and supporters to consider making a donation to help the fund launch the Hope Fund. SkillsUSA Joins CareerSafe ‘One in a Million’ Celebration

SkillsUSA executive director Tim Lawrence received a Founders Award as part of a CareerSafe event Feb. 22 to celebrate the milestone of 1 million students trained in safety. In conjunction with Career and Technical Education Month, CareerSafe reached its goal of training 1 million students in foundational safety, health and security.
