SkillsUSA is a founding member of the Building Futures Skilled Trades Coalition — the largest cross-sector skilled trades coalition in U.S. history — launched today by the Lowe’s Foundation. SkillsUSA joins more than 75 educators, businesses and workforce organizations, named alongside groups like the National Association of Home Builders and NCCER, in an effort to help train and develop 1 million people for skilled trades careers by 2035. That goal is urgent: an estimated 2.1 million trades jobs could go unfilled by 2030. For SkillsUSA, the work maps directly to our mission — changing how young people see careers in the trades and equipping them with the workplace, personal and technical skills grounded in academics to turn training into lasting employment.
