To reduce cafeteria food waste at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Bourne, Mass., Jack Rodgers and Joseph Fisher, environmental science and technology students, have developed a composting system incorporating black soldier fly larvae. The feeding larvae rapidly decompose food waste. The two earned gold in the national Community Action Project contest for their work.
