Law enforcement students at Northeast Metro 916 Career and Technical Center in White Bear Lake, Minn., mentor Oakdale (Minn.) Elementary School second-graders. In what’s known as the Tiger Cubs and Caps project, the high-school students write their “buddies” during the school year. They also knit two caps each for the youngsters. The buddies eventually meet at the elementary school to deliver the caps. This past year, the high-school students also filled in when family members were unable to help with their children’s Flat Stanley projects. See: www.flatstanleyproject.com.
