Jane Short or Karen Kitzel 703-777-8810 jshort@skillsusa.org or kkitzel@skillsusa.org Oct. 10, 2022 — SkillsUSA’s State Standards of Excellence program experienced growth in its sixth year as 39 states completed the process and received recognition in 2022. The purpose of the program is to ensure state associations have in place policies, procedures and structure on an annual basis that deliver a high level of service to their SkillsUSA membership. The State Standards of Excellence program is not intended to be competitive but instead encourages states to benchmark their performance and determine improvements to become the very best organization for their members. State associations, rather than the state SkillsUSA director, are recognized for achieving State Standards of Excellence. The following state associations were recognized for achieving the Bronze level, which establishes a baseline for a healthy association: Colorado, Nebraska, New Jersey, South Dakota, Tennessee College/Postsecondary and Wisconsin College/Postsecondary. These states were recognized for achieving Silver, ensuring sustainability of a healthy association: Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana College/Postsecondary, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, Texas College/Postsecondary, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming. The following states reached the pinnacle of achievement by successfully completing the Gold level requirements, ensuring continued growth of the association: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia College/Postsecondary, Georgia High School, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York High School, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee High School, Virginia and Washington High School.
