Presidential CTE Scholars Include SkillsUSA Members

The U.S. Department of Education announced the 55th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, which for the fourth year includes students in career and technical education (CTE) fields. mikeroweWORKS Foundation Provides Travel Scholarships for SkillsUSA Members Assistance for Students to Demonstrate Their Skills

Leesburg, Va. — The mikeroweWORKS Foundation has contributed $50,000 to a SkillsUSA scholarship fund for 88 students about to compete in the world’s largest showcase of career and technical education. This contribution was matched by the Charles Koch Foundation and by Koch Industries to total $100,000 in travel scholarships for SkillsUSA students. Winters Mill High Alumna Taking Her Expertise in Print Media to WorldSkills Competition in Russia

A Carroll County woman will be representing the U.S. in a worldwide competition in Russia with her talents in print media technology. WorldSkills hosts the world championships of skills every two years, attracting more than 1,600 competitors from more than 76 countries and regions around the world to compete in more than 50 different trade skills, according to a WorldSkills USA news release. First SkillsUSA National Signing Day a Big Success

SkillsUSA National Signing Day took place on Wednesday, May 8. Over 300 schools and an estimated 3,000 students participated across the country. The event saluted career and technical education students for pledging to continue in a skilled trades career after high school, in the same way as student athletes who sign for college sports programs or even the NFL. Our partner Klein Tools took the lead, providing T-shirts, hats, backpacks and Klein pliers as gifts as well as pledge cards, signs, tablecloths and water bottles.
