At SkillsUSA’s national conference, instructor Mike Howington made a connection with representatives from Harley-Davidson Inc. Returning home to Tazewell (Va.) County Career and Technical Center, he was offered 20 Harley powertrains for his program in small engine and motorcycle repair.
With approval from the school administration, the motors were transported from Milwaukee to Tazewell by staff from neighboring Hawg Pit Cycles, a program supporter in Bluefield, W.Va. Another Bluefield business, Cole Harley, garnered training manuals and tools for instruction.
