Automotive Students Keep Folks Moving

At Washburn Technical Institute of Technology (WIT) in Topeka, Kan., students in auto collision repair and auto service technology work with licensed technicians to refurbish cars for families in need. Since 2011, as part of the Recycled Rides Program, students, their mentors and volunteers have repaired 16 donated vehicles. WIT is the first school in the nation to partner with the National Auto Body Council to be a Recycled Rides training facility. Applicants for the cars include individuals with medical needs, victims of domestic violence or natural disasters, low-income families and needy students.
