Maximizing Perkins V for Student Success!

Maximizing Perkins V for Student Success!

As the deadline nears for submitting membership in SkillsUSA to allow student members to serve as delegates and compete at the district/regional, state, and national levels, it is important to know that Perkins supports the increased participation of ALL special populations in CTSOs. Contact your advisory committee and administrator and ask them to support the special population students in your program.

Direct language from Perkins V:  SEC. 124. [20 U.S.C. 2344] regarding State Leadership Activities:  “support for CTSOs, especially with respect to efforts to increase the participation of students in nontraditional fields and students who are members of special pops;” and new groups have been added as part of special populations which include: “out of work individuals, English learners, homeless, foster care, and youth with parent in armed forces”.
