SkillsUSA’s Five Regional Advisors of the Year Announced

SkillsUSA’s five regional advisors of the year have been chosen. These five outstanding advisors will be recognized on June 24 during NLSC’s live virtual awards ceremony, and one will be named National Advisor of the Year. Congratulations to John Stratton (Oneida Herkimer Madison BOCES CTEC, N.Y., Region 1), Rushe Hudzinski-Sero (Savannah Technical College, Ga., Region 2), Fred Ganter (Elkhorn Area High School, Wis., Region 3), Gloria Houston (New Madrid County R-I Technical Skills Center, Mo., Region 4) and Nikki Gerner (Dinuba High School, Calif., Region 5).

SkillsUSA Students Receive Presidential Honors

Andrea Maizy, a SkillsUSA student at Center Line High School (Mich.) and Julie Canuto-Depina, a student at Southeastern Regional Vocational-Tech High School (Mass.), were named 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education. Sharon Melton Myers Memorial Scholarship Winners Announced

Through a donation from the Sharon Melton Myers Memorial Fund, SkillsUSA and the McMinn County Vocational Center (Athens, Tenn.), the SkillsUSA Alumni and Friends Association offers a $500 scholarship each year to two high-school SkillsUSA students in memory of much-loved former member Sharon Melton Myers. This year’s recipients are: Tarik Barnes, Cleveland High School, Cleveland, Texas and Bailey Brown, Richlands High School, Richlands, N.C.

Celebrate A Champion with a Parent/Supporter Ad

Leading up to and during the week of NLSC, parents, advisors, partners or SkillsUSA supporters of any kind can provide a national shoutout to a deserving SkillsUSA champion — or even to an entire group of champions — through the purchase of a “Parent/Supporter Ad.” Full details can be found here. Save the Date! SkillsUSA Awards and Recognition Session

SkillsUSA will be hosting the Awards and Recognition Session LIVE on Thursday, June 24, from 3:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Three separate segments will occur at 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with short breaks between each.) Please encourage your students, state officers, board members and state DOE officials to join chapters from across your state in watching what will be an unforgettable Awards and Recognition session.
