Want to practice your interview skills and gain insider information on industry? The new SkillsUSA Meet the Employer is your chance!
Meet the Employer takes place Friday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in West Hall
(see SkillsUSA Conference App for details)
As one of more than 6,000 skilled trades students attending the 2018 National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), you’ll have a unique networking opportunity. This one-day event is your chance to demonstrate your personal skills and prove that you are job-ready Day One.
Meet the Employer allows SkillsUSA industry partners to meet, inform and interview hundreds of potential applicants. As you make connections with potential employers or mentors you should be prepared to discuss your talents, skills, experience and education. Company representatives may tell you about current job openings and their hiring processes, or provide general information about their industry. Often, these short interviews are for informational rather than hiring purposes. They are designed to give you more details about the company, and to give the company a glimpse of your ability to carry on a professional conversation. SkillsUSA partners will be in individual booths, ready to showcase their companies and talk to you about career paths, employment opportunities, internships and apprenticeships.
Meet the Employer has the potential to squeeze a month’s worth of interviews into a single day. You’ll get multiple chances to firm up your handshake, make eye contact and talk about yourself. You’ll also get to practice answering spontaneous questions effectively.
Who Can Attend?
Meet the Employer is open to all registered 2017-18 SkillsUSA members and to all NLSC registered conference attendees.
