A Virtual Step Back in Time

In Grand Rapids, Mich., students at Kent Career Technical Center and Kent Innovation High School are collaborating on a virtual tour of Historic Fort Wayne (Ind.), site of a battle during the War of 1812. In a cross-discipline effort, students photographed re-enactors, built models and then created digital 3-D replicas for the tour. Once it’s complete, students everywhere will be able to tour the fort via a Web browser. The school teams also developed a coloring book (shown above, in use at the fort) and lesson plans for kindergarten through sixth grade.
