SkillsUSA is introducing the Professional Development Program (PDP) in a new fully redesigned Internet-based course. The course content makes use of the updated printed edition of the PDP curriculum to train for the competencies and the foundations needed for today's job performance.
The instructor is a critical component to the new PDP online version and will have the ability to enroll and receive transfer students, look up student ID and PIN numbers, track student activities including grades and comments, update records with completion dates, report and manage competencies. In addition, the instructor will have a centralized database of all student work.
Student access is emphasized in PDP online to accomplish training and successfully complete the curriculum. Students will be able to:
- Navigate through PDP online via drop down menu or the level map
- Follow the course sequentially that is created by the instructor
- Return to previously completed sections for review or follow up
- Have completed training results saved to the database
- Return to a test and resume where they left off if they disconnect
Other Special Features
Each level of the PDP will have its own level overview, navigation map, glossary and help page. Your students will be able to move freely between levels, but certain sections will require the student to complete questions or tests in a particular order. In addition, each section will open with an audio narrative. PDP online uses the newest Web page development tools. You will be able to access PDP online via Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and above or Netscape 4.7 and above. The database will be complied and run on a central server with user and administrative security for PDP users. The design of the database will allow for the capture and reporting of student training activities and record management. Administrative and support efforts by the user is reduced with this new version of PDP online.
