SkillsUSA has a new national college/postsecondary program of work that includes a  Service Learning component. This training will provide information on the new model, how to establish a chapter and how to integrate the model and SkillsUSA into your classrooms using these components:  academic coursework, service to the community, and a critical reflection component that lends itself to civic engagement/responsibility. Discover through PowerPoint presentation, handouts and group discussion, how Service Learning can be a teaching methodology, which allows faculty to integrate classroom instruction with student community service.

Discover how Service Learning projects involve students in the following:

  • Environments which supplement their education
  • Opportunities to build workplace skills
  • Communication and networking
  • Awareness of community needs

Also learn how students can earn recognition and awards for their service.

SkillsUSA Service Learning Training is a half day session and will include breaks. Cost: $50.
