CMI Basic: One-day Seminar
This seven-hour workshop provides new instructors with the tools they need to develop, manage and advise a SkillsUSA chapter in their school or classroom. Participants explore the mission of SkillsUSA; learn to use the multitude of resources available and engage in hands-on activities. The training utilizes interactive sessions and provides answers to questions such as: How do I get students involved? What is the best way to organize our activities? What does a chapter set out to do? What is a Program of Work? What materials are available to help students? This is a must for beginning or novice advisors wanting to start a chapter or better manage an existing chapter.

As a participant in the CMI Basic Seminar, you receive the following materials:

  1. Advisor's Success Kit (ASK) CD-ROM
  2. The SkillsUSA Leadership Handbook
  3. The SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards CD Package

Training & materials: *$145/participant (does not include morning break & lunch)
*Based on a minimum of 25 participants

CMI Advanced: One-day Seminar
This seven-hour workshop is designed for educators who have previously attended the CMI Basic Seminar or have previous experience as a SkillsUSA advisor. Through group interaction and hands-on experiences, participants will learn to identify and develop effective chapter management techniques, such as incorporating Chapter Activity Planner and Personal Leadership Inventory, developing an effective Program of Work, and facilitating activities using the Cycle of Learning. Participants learn how to direct lessons using adolescent leadership research, as well as observe and conclude how management techniques apply to activities. Additionally, they will practice strategies for the inclusion of relevant stakeholders, such as including parents and alumni in chapter events or involving business partners in professional development activities. This is a must for those educators wanting to boost chapter effectiveness.

As a participant in the CMI Advanced Seminar, you receive the following materials:

  1. Advisor's Success Kit (ASK) CD-ROM

CMI: Two-Day Seminar
During this two-day workshop participants are provided with the resources needed to develop, manage and advise a SkillsUSA chapter in their school or classroom. In addition, peer assistance and networking allow for a rich, supportive training environment. As a capstone to the two-day CMI, participants will experience being a contestant in a SkillsUSA Championship Leadership event, and also be challenged to facilitate and evaluate events.
