State Officer 101/201 & Advisor Training

Who Should Attend?

This training is designed for high school and college/postsecondary students who currently hold the position as state officers or who are interested in becoming more active in their local chapters. Interested participants should review the prerequisites to determine their readiness.

Prerequisites to 101 training for high school students
To fully benefit from Officer 101 Training, student participants should be able to exhibit competence in the following leadership skill areas:

Demonstrate responsibility for tasks

  • Exhibit self-control concerning deadlines, resources (for example: being on time).
  • Demonstrate preparation.
  • Identify appropriate communication styles.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of verbal and non-verbal messages.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and prioritize goals.

Student participants will be asked to demonstrate their readiness throughout the training workshops. Activities and challenges during the two-day training will build upon these prerequisites and prepare students for advanced leadership and officer development.

Prerequisites to 201 training for college/postsecondary
students and high school students who have already attended 101 training

To fully benefit from Officer 201 Training, student participants should be able to exhibit competence in the following leadership skill areas:

  • Demonstrate responsibility for tasks and leadership skills
    Exhibit self-control concerning deadlines, resources (for example: being on time).
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for diversity, a respect for individual differences and an ability to work with others in a team situation.
  • Demonstrate basic public speaking.
  • Identify decision making as a leadership quality.
  • Set positive examples among peers, colleagues and the community.

Student participants will be asked to demonstrate their readiness throughout the training workshops. Activities and challenges during the two-day training will build upon these prerequisites and prepare students for advanced leadership and officer development.
