You don’t have to love NASCAR to appreciate Peyton Sellers’ association with SkillsUSA. Sellers (photo, right) is a rising star on the NASCAR circuit, with more than 30 wins. His car will feature the SkillsUSA logo in five races this season, starting with the Toyota All-Star Showdown on Jan. 24.
As a class, chart Sellers’ progress during the upcoming NASCAR season at: www.peytonsellers.com. Pay special attention to races where his car features the SkillsUSA logo, and find out how many people attended the event. If it was televised, determine the number of viewers.
Then, discuss how many might’ve been exposed to the SkillsUSA logo during the race and how Sellers’ performance affected that number. Talk about other partnership opportunities that could bring SkillsUSA national visibility.
In its first title motorsports sponsorship, Jig-A-Loo USA Inc. has announced a partnership with Sellers for the 2009 season. Jig-A-Loo and Sellers Racing will debut the all-new orange No. 83 Chevrolet at the Toyota All-Star Showdown race.
"With an impressive race record and his affiliation with SkillsUSA, Peyton was a perfect fit for our partnership," said Cindy Sutton, vice president of sales and marketing, Jig-A-Loo USA, Inc. "Together we support the future skilled-trades work force of North America."
"The Toyota All-Star Showdown is one of the biggest races of the season for us, and to have Jig-A-Loo USA on board is a great way for us to kick-off our season," said Sellers. "Jig-A-Loo shares in the same passion as our race team with regards to its involvement with SkillsUSA. Through our sponsorship with Jig-A-Loo and our mutual support of SkillsUSA, this is a winning race combination."
The Toyota All-Star Showdown and its qualifying event will be aired live on the SPEED channel.
A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.
