Safety is a major concern in classrooms and workplaces across America. With 80 percent of teen-agers entering the workforce prior to graduation, it should be a No. 1 priorityespecially in light of the fact that one young person is killed every five days in work-related accidents. To help combat this alarming statistic, SkillsUSA has formed an alliance with CareerSafe, a safety training program. CareerSafe offers 10 safety training modules that provide students with fundamental information for work.
Upon successful completion, a student will receive a 10-Hour CareerSafe Course Completion Card from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This interactive, online program is youth-to-youth designed and delivered. The cost is $12 per student, and the training qualifies for Perkins grant funding.
