E-learning Opportunities

SkillsUSA is offering e-learning opportunities to all advisors. These 45-minute webinars will help prepare advisors for a great year. They will get practical answers and useful solutions to empower students to lead their chapter to success. Each e-learning session will be presented at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (EDT) on the scheduled day.

Advisors can register for the time they find most convenient by using the link: www.skillsusa.org/join/elearning.shtml. After registering, they will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. In addition, they will receive a free resource item just for attending e-learning. The session dates follow:

  • Integrating SkillsUSA into the classroom environment – Thursday, October 3
  • SkillsUSA programs – Tuesday, October 8
  • Student leadership development – Thursday, October 10
  • Preparing for the SkillsUSA Championships – Tuesday, October 15

E-learning Opportunities

There are twelve e-learning opportunities scheduled this fall. Please encourage teachers, administrators, students and anyone else who is interested in learning more about how to create a successful chapter to attend.

Starting a New Chapter is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27. Participants can join the webinar either at 3:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. (EDT). Each session will last 45 minutes and will consist of practical answers and useful solutions that can be implemented the next day to improve their chapters.

Free Webinars in 2013

Free national Web conferences are scheduled for 2013. It’s your chance to hear from and communicate with national staff. We’ll provide some training and information on professional development, some updating and motivating advice and tips on being a national leader.

Please join us for one or both of these events and encourage your state leaders and chapters to participate. Invite students, officer teams, key advisors, instructors, alumni and others. The links will be available soon. Please check the website for the links.

SkillsUSA Week: Prepared with the Skills America Needs – February 12, 2013, 1 p.m. (EST)
Use this webinar to help kick off SkillsUSA Week celebrations. Hear from your SkillsUSA leaders on the state of the organization. Listen to what it means to be “Prepared with the Skills America Needs,” which is this year’s theme. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. Workforce Ready System Updates

November 30th, 2012

SkillsUSA offers 47 technical and employability assessments in 11 cluster areas including four co-branded assessments with ASE/AYES and five co-branded assessments with PrintED/GAERF. Fall orders are up 173 percent compared to last year’s usage during the same time period. More users are taking advantage of pre and post testing for program improvement.

System Enhancements:

Recent updates to the ordering website will make adding to existing orders easier and will allow users to review previous orders online.

System updates were released in September with new features to enhance the grade reports, certificate printing and username password reset functionality. See examples of the enhanced grade and username password reports at: www.workforcereadysystem.org/media/ReportExample2012.pdf.

Lowe’s Grant Webinars

September 28th, 2012

SkillsUSA is pleased to announce a continuing partnership with Lowe’s for 2013. As part of its overall grant to SkillsUSA, Lowe’s will award grants to local chapters of up to $25,000 each to support classroom improvements, upgrade or provide tangible tools for learning technical skills, support leadership development opportunities, or provide for competition clothing that will give students the opportunity to compete at SkillsUSA events that would otherwise be unattainable. In support of chapters applying for grants, a series of webinars will be held to help chapters through the grant application process.

There will be two webinars held on October 2 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the webinar information is now online at: www.skillsusa.org/educators/loweswebinars.shtml. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2012.
