National Conference Pin and T-shirt Reminder

November 1st, 2010

February 1, 2011 is the deadline for the entries to the SkillsUSA National Conference Pin and T-shirt competition. This event is open to all paid student members of SkillsUSA. What a great way to have a student and advisor from your state recognized in front of a national audience. Paid registration to nationals, a plaque for the teacher and student, plus a school grant to the advisor of the winning student will be announced at a later date.

Pin and T-shirt Design Winners

Congratulations to Amanda Thaxton, the 2010 winner of the SkillsUSA National Pin Design Competition and to Ashley Thompson, the 2010 winner of the SkillsUSA National T-Shirt Competition. Amanda and Ashley are graphic design and production students at South Effingham High School in Guyton, Ga. They will each be recognized along with their advisor, Craig Owens, at the opening session of the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City this June. Their high school will receive $10,000 from Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation for classroom and equipment improvements. Each participant at NLSC will receive a conference t-shirt and conference pin showcasing the designs through the Lowe’s sponsorship.

Alumni Pin Design Contest

February 1st, 2010

The SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Association is sponsoring a Pin Design Contest this year. The winning design will become the official Alumni Pin for the 2010 National Leadership and Skills Conference. The winner will also receive a plaque, an industry prize and a complimentary registration for the national conference.
