“Why Science is Cool” Kavli Science Video Contest
The USA Science & Engineering Festival, hosted by Lockheed Martin, will be the country’s first national science and engineering festival and will be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. October 23 & 24, 2010. The Festival promises to be the ultimate multi-cultural, multi-generational and multi-disciplinary celebration of science and engineering in the United States. The culmination of the Festival will be a two-day Expo in the nation’s capital that will give over 500 science & engineering organizations from all over the United States the opportunity to present themselves with a hands-on, fun science activity to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
SkillsUSA has been invited to participate in a competition by submitting a video about the USA Science & Engineering Festival. This is an opportunity to show the nation how you are meeting the engineering, design and technology challenges of tomorrow by entering the K-12 “Why Science is Cool” Kavli Science Video Contest.
We are challenging students to use their love of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to inspire everyone. Cash prizes will support STEM education at your school or organization, and electronics certificates will be awarded to the students. Winners will also either receive a trip to DC to the Expo, or tickets to a VIP Discovery Channel “Mythbusters” event. The video activity offers an excellent component to a year-end project summary.
Deadline for submission is July 15th. For more information go to www.usasciencefestival.org/2010festival/contests/kavli-science-video-contest.
