The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference officially begins on Tuesday, June 24, with a keynote speech by James Press, vice chairman and president of Chrysler and a motivational speech by pilot Barrington Irving. The conference ends on Friday, June 27 with a closing address by Joseph Galli, Jr., chief executive officer of TTi.

James Press
James Press joined Chrysler LLC as vice chairman and president in September 2007. He serves is the office of the chairman and on the board of managers. At Chrysler, he is responsible for North American sales, international sales, global marketing, product strategy and service and parts. Prior to joining Chrysler, Press was president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motors North America and a senior managing director of the parent company, Toyota Motor Corporation.

Press serves on the board of directors for the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, Automotive Youth Educational Systems and the Detroit Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Press is a member of the advisory board for his alma mater, Pittsburg State University and the Switzer Center School in Torrance, Calif. He serves on the board of trustees for the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and the Chadwick School in Rolling Hills, Calif. Press was the first international automotive executive elected to chair the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, the industry's top trade group and served as chairman for the second time during 2006. He has received the "Distinguished Service Citation Award" from the Automotive Hall of Fame.

Barrington Irving
Barrington Irving, aviator and motivational speaker will also speak during the Opening Ceremony. In 2007, at age 23, Irving secured his place in history as the first black pilot and youngest person ever to fly solo around the globe. Irving took off from Miami on March 23 in a single-engine aircraft. Over the next three months, he flew 30,000 miles, traversing four continents and encountering snowstorms, thunderstorms, sand storms and monsoons along the way. On June 27, 2007 he completed his journey.

In 2003, Barrington founded the nonprofit organization, Experience Aviation, to introduce other inner-city youth to the fields of aviation and aerospace. In November 2006, he opened the first EA Learning Center in Miami. The Center offers hands-on education programs, career guidance and mentorship support to middle and high school students. In December 2007, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution honoring Barrington and his achievements in the field of aviation education for young people. Joseph Galli, Jr.
Joseph Galli, Jr., joined TTi in 2006 as the chief executive officer of TTi and was appointed as chief executive officer and executive director of TTi effective February 1, 2008. He is responsible for integrating acquisitions in North America and Europe, and enhancing the global sales potential of the group's strong brand portfolio. He is also responsible for leading the management team in the group's daily operations.

Previously Galli worked for Black & Decker for 19 years, rising to the position of president of it's worldwide power tools and accessory division; Amazon.com as president and chief operating officer; and, director and chief executive officer of Newell Rubbermaid, Inc.

Galli graduated from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 1987, he obtained an MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
